Medical Laboratory Technician – Blood Bank (Nights)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 7 on / 7 off | 6:30 PM – 6:30 AM | Training on day shift (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM) for approximately 2–3 weeks

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrates strong Blood Bank experience as a core function of this role
• Collects, processes, and receives specimens (including blood, urine, fecal, and body fluid) for analysis across all clinical laboratory departments
• Performs complex laboratory procedures; recognizes deviations from expected results and applies scientific principles to analyze and correct problems
• Analyzes quality control data, makes judgments regarding results, and takes appropriate corrective action to maintain accuracy and precision
• Evaluates and resolves problems related to the collection and processing of biological specimens across all age ranges
• Answers inquiries regarding test results, methodology, test specificity and sensitivity, and factors that may influence results

Required Qualifications

• Strong Blood Bank experience is required
• Bachelor's degree required (Associates degree accepted for grandfathered personnel)
• CLS, MT (ASCP), or equivalent certification required
• New graduates must pass the certification exam within 6 months of employment start date
• Ability to maintain self-competency in laboratory skills and adhere to laboratory initiatives and philosophies

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in Hematology department workflows
• Familiarity with evaluating new laboratory techniques, procedures, and equipment
• Experience writing or revising technical laboratory procedures and establishing reference intervals
