Duties:

Selected candidates MUST SUCCESSFULLY PASS a BCA (Basic Cardiac Arrythmia) test. Candidates will not be able to start an assignment until they have passed this onsite administered test. Should they fail, candidates will have one opportunity to re-test, a second failure will result in contract cancellation and all applicable fees will be enforced.

Job Summary:
-Utilizes the nursing process to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift.
-Ensures safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care of patients.
-Provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken, and patient responses.
-Coordinates patient care through collaboration with the patient/family and healthcare team.
-Initiates, utilizes, and documents appropriate protocols and standards of care.
-Administers medication and treatments as prescribed by physician or standard protocols and documents according to policy.
-Identifies and meets patient and family learning and discharge needs on admission and throughout the episode of care.
-Assumes responsibility for the clinical supervision of LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel.

Skills: Required Skills & Experience:
-Two (2) years’ current experience required in an 18-plus bed telemetry/progressive care unit required.
-Must be a team player, flexible, and accustomed to fast paced environment.
-Must have successfully completed at least one 13-week travel assignment.

Preferred Skills & Experience:
-Epic EMR experience preferred.
Education: Required Education:
-Associate's Degree in Nursing.

Preferred Education:
-N/A

Required Certifications & Licensure:
-State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License.
-BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
-BLS and ACLS must be completed through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross.
-Traveler must provide or pass a Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia/Dysrhythmia Assessment (BCA) exam prior to or during first week of assignment. Travelers that do not pass the BCA test will be dismissed.
