Registered Behavioral Technician

Primary Purpose: The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides 1:1 behavioral interventions to children and adolescents diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related developmental disabilities. Services are typically provided in homes, schools, or community settings, under the close supervision of a BCBA.

Position Details:

  • Pay: Starting at $29/hr

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Special Education, Psychology or related field or beyond.
  • Current RBT Certification through the BACB (Behavior Analyst Certification Board)
  • Experience working with students with a range of disabilities (e.g., learning disabilities, autism, developmental delays, etc.

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working with children or individuals with special needs, particularly in a school or behavioral setting, is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and strategies.
  • Experience implementing behavior intervention plans and using behavior management techniques.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data to monitor student progress.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for collaborating with teachers, parents, and other staff.
  • Ability to remain patient, calm, and professional in challenging situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working within a school team.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs as designed by a BCBA.
  • Teach and reinforce skills related to communication, social interaction, play, self-help, and daily living.
  • Use positive reinforcement and proactive behavior support techniques.
  • Accurately collect and record data on target behaviors and skill acquisition.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to ensure fidelity to the treatment plan.
  • Communicate professionally with parents, caregivers, and team members.
  • Respond appropriately to challenging behaviors, using techniques defined in the behavior intervention plan (BIP).
  • Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and RBT ethical guidelines.

Work Environment:

  • Classroom and school environment, which may include both individual and group instruction.
  • May involve working with students in various settings (classroom, therapy rooms, or outdoor spaces).
  • Frequent interaction with parents, staff, and administrators.
  • Including: walking, running occasionally, standing, sitting, kneeling, crouching, carrying up to 50 lbs, and child-level interactions
