Full-time, travel, 13-week assignment, dayshift (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide bedside patient care in a Medical Surgical unit, including assessments, administering treatments, and monitoring patients.
- Manage a variety of post-op procedures such as wound management, drains, chest tubes, and ostomies.
- Perform patient assessments for conditions including strokes, seizures, and tracheostomies, with some patients requiring dialysis or PCA pumps.
- Document care and interventions accurately using the Meditech system, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and safety standards.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure effective communication, safety checks, and patient-centered care.
- Maintain compliance with infection control practices, fall prevention protocols, and medication safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in Tennessee or appropriate state licenses.
- BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred.
- Ability to perform basic patient assessments and care related to wounds, tracheostomies, drains, and other post-op procedures.
- Experience with hospital equipment such as IV pumps, Hoyer lifts, and bedside monitors.
- Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols, including medication scanning.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience.
- Experience caring for patients with post-op needs, strokes, seizures, or requiring dialysis.
- Comfortable with electronic documentation and hospital procedures.
- Strong communication skills and teamwork focus.
