Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialized instruction in a small cohort classroom setting for students with diverse disabilities.
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for each student, tracking progress and maintaining records.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and families to enhance instructional strategies and school community.
- Participate in professional development, data meetings, and curriculum planning sessions.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and student-centered learning environment that encourages curiosity and growth.
- Support students with mobility or physical needs as outlined in their IEPs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid Connecticut teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities such as learning disabilities, autism, or developmental delays.
- Knowledge of Special Education laws, techniques, and best practices.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Proven experience in lesson planning with clear objectives and assessment methods.
- Familiarity with Common Core State Standards and educational technology.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students with special needs.
- Experience working in educational settings with students requiring physical assistance.
