Key Responsibilities

• Deliver specialized instruction in a small cohort classroom setting for students with diverse disabilities.
• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for each student, tracking progress and maintaining records.
• Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and families to enhance instructional strategies and school community.
• Participate in professional development, data meetings, and curriculum planning sessions.
• Foster a safe, supportive, and student-centered learning environment that encourages curiosity and growth.
• Support students with mobility or physical needs as outlined in their IEPs.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Valid Connecticut teaching certification in Special Education.
• Experience working with students with disabilities such as learning disabilities, autism, or developmental delays.
• Knowledge of Special Education laws, techniques, and best practices.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Proven experience in lesson planning with clear objectives and assessment methods.
• Familiarity with Common Core State Standards and educational technology.
• Ability to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and staff.
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students with special needs.
• Experience working in educational settings with students requiring physical assistance.
