Key Responsibilities
- Assist in surgical procedures by preparing sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment under nurse supervision.
- Anticipate and respond to the surgeon’s preferences for materials and instruments during surgeries.
- Set up sterile tables and ensure the sterility of instruments and supplies needed for procedures.
- Disassemble, clean, reassemble, and prepare instruments for sterilization within scope of duties.
- Monitor supplies and instruments to maintain sterility and support quality patient care.
- Inventory and manage supply levels, placing orders as needed.
- Develop and implement educational programs or learning aids related to surgical techniques and standards.
- Provide backup support for emergency surgeries when required.
- Participate in departmental committees and other assigned duties.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completion of an accredited surgical technologist training program.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST).
- Current BLS certification.
- Must have or obtain flu vaccination prior to start.
- Must have certifications at time of submission.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Minimum 1 year surgical technologist experience preferred.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, instrumentation, and wound healing.
- Skill in sterile technique, patient positioning, and handling intraoperative requests.
