Registered Nurse - ICU
Location: Lexington, KY
Schedule / Job Type: Night shifts, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), night shifts; 3 weekend night shifts per month (Friday or Saturday night), possibly floating to different units within the hospital. This is a contract assignment with travel opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized patient care in the ICU setting, including airway management, ventilated patient care, and management of dysrhythmias.
• Administer and titrate IV medications, vasopressors, and continuous IV sedation.
• Manage central lines, artlines, and other invasive procedures, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols.
• Monitor and interpret ABGs and ECG/EKG rhythms to guide treatment decisions.
• Implement infection control precautions, including isolation protocols, and triage patients in emergency or holding areas.
• Document patient care accurately using computerized systems.
• Handle complex cases involving multisystem organ dysfunction or failure, including post-surgical and neuro-specific cases such as craniotomy and thoracic surgeries.
• Capable of managing vented patients and airway emergencies in high-pressure scenarios.
• Maintain appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios (1:1 to 1:2+).
  Required Qualifications:
• 1.5+ years of recent ICU experience in a hospital setting.
• Active RN license in good standing; compact license acceptable.
• Current certifications: NIHSS, ACLS, BLS.
• Ability to interpret ABGs and dysrhythmias accurately.
• Experience with airway management, vent management, and invasive procedures.
• Compliance with travel and facility policies, including background checks and references.
  Preferred Experience / Skills:
• Prior travel nursing experience in ICU settings.
• Experience with fempops, CEA, post-thoracic surgeries, neurosurgeries, and post-craniotomy care.
• Knowledge of EPIC documentation system.
