Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized post-anesthesia care in the PACU setting, monitoring patient recovery following surgical procedures.
- Assess patient condition, re-assess regularly, and develop individualized plans of care to ensure safe and efficient recovery.
- Collaborate with surgical teams, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
- Perform Point of Care testing and document all interventions accurately in compliance with standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.
- Participate in unit orientation, staff support, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Current New Mexico RN license or a valid Compact state license.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience in a perioperative or PACU setting.
- Ability to handle emergency situations, work standing and walking for extended periods, and perform patient transfers.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Previous PACU or surgical services nursing experience.
- Knowledge of infection control procedures and safety protocols in a surgical environment.
- Strong communication skills tailored to diverse patient populations.
