Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to adult patients in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), including postoperative management of cardiac and thoracic surgery patients.
• Manage complex cardiac conditions, interpret and treat dysrhythmias, and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care, including intubated and ventilated patients, arterial line management, and use of advanced equipment such as intra-aortic balloon pumps and ventricular assist devices.
• Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, maintain accurate documentation, and provide patient education when appropriate.
• Adhere to safety standards and support the unit’s focus on delivering high-quality cardiovascular and oncology patient care.
• Cover unit-specific procedures, including post-surgical care, telemetry monitoring, and management of various cardiac interventions.

Required Qualifications

• Active IN Registered Nurse license (or in hand prior to start).
• Minimum of 18 months of nursing experience, preferably in ICU or CVICU.
• Current ACLS and BCLS certifications.
• Ability to interpret and manage cardiac arrhythmias and post-surgical patient needs.
• Must be comfortable working in a mixed acuity environment with a flexible patient population.
• Willingness to work night shifts and holidays as required.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Previous charge nurse or leadership experience preferred.
• Certification or experience with intra-aortic balloon pumps, LVAD, Impella, or post-cardiac intervention care.
• Experience managing ventilated patients and ventilator protocols.
• Strong teamwork and adaptability in a fast-paced ICU setting.
