Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a busy Level I trauma, magnet-designated acute care hospital.
• Manage medical-surgical patients, including PICC line care and starting IVs.
• Float within hospital departments as needed to meet patient care demands.
• Participate in team-based patient care activities, ensuring high standards of safety and quality.
• Document patient information accurately using Cerner electronic health records.
• Assist with patient education and support, including those requiring tracheostomy and laryngectomy care as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience.
• Active Illinois nursing license in hand.
• BLS certification.
• Experience with PICC line management and IV starts required.
• Willingness to learn and care for tracheostomy and laryngectomy patients.
• Ability to work up to a 1:7 patient ratio if needed, with flexibility to float within scope.
• Experience with Cerner charting system preferred.
• Must be able to complete compliance requirements including background check, module training, and credentialing.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Past experience working in a Level I trauma or magnet hospital environment.
• Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS are a plus.
• Experience with Red Cross or AHA-certified courses.
