Registered Nurse - Orthopedic

Schedule / Job Type:
Full-time, nights shifts, 3 shifts per week

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to orthopedic patients in a 43-bed unit with all private rooms.
• Monitor and manage a patient ratio of approximately 1:4-5 during 12-hour night shifts.
• Administer postoperative surgical care and general medical-surgical treatments, including trauma cases with fractures.
• Utilize required certifications, such as BLS, to support patient safety and care standards.
• Collaborate with primary charge nurses and house supervisors to ensure smooth shift operations.
• Document patient information, interpret telemetry data, and troubleshoot medical equipment like CPAP and BiPAP as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Valid IL nursing license or proof of application process.
• BLS certification.
• Minimum 1-2 years of clinical experience in postoperative surgical care and general med-surg.
• Active or pending IL license.
• Understanding of trauma and orthopedic patient care.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

• Experience with trauma cases, fractures, and postoperative orthopedic patients.
• Ability to read telemetry strips from Phillips monitors.
• Flexibility to float to other medical-surgical units if needed.
