Key Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care within a busy Level I trauma center for all service lines excluding cardiovascular cases.
• Assist with laparoscopic-assisted bariatric and general surgery procedures, including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, and Whipple procedures.
• Support neurology cases such as cervical fusions, craniotomies, laminectomies, and lumbar fusions.
• Assist orthopedic cases including arthroscopy, fracture reductions, and open reductions.
• Participate in trauma interventions including amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, and multi-injury motor vehicle accidents.
• Handle emergency response procedures, infection control, blood product administration, specimen handling, and infection prevention protocols.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience in an acute care or trauma environment.
• Valid Illinois RN license in hand or in process of licensure application.
• Active BLS certification; CNOR preferred.
• Basic proficiency with Cerner charting system.
• Level I trauma experience required; open to candidates with general and trauma experience.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with Cerner electronic health records.
• Laparoscopic-assisted bariatric cases.
• Cerner charting proficiency.
• Ability to float within hospital scope as needed.

• Travel and relocation assistance are not provided; candidates must reside 50 miles or more from the facility.
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
• Floating within hospital or to nearby facilities is required.
