Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and handle instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures, including cardiac, vascular, neuro/spine, trauma, ortho, burn, ENT, transplant, and robotic surgeries.
- Assist the surgical team by maintaining a sterile environment, sponging, suctioning, cutting sutures, holding retractors, and manipulating endoscopic cameras.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon to ensure smooth operative flow and maintain patient safety throughout procedures.
- Demonstrate proficiency in cardiac surgeries such as coronary artery bypass, valve replacements, and da Vinci-assisted thoracoscopy.
- Provide leadership and expertise as a lead surgical technologist in various specialty areas.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) from a recognized certifying body.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar-sized facility with relevant surgical services.
- Active BLS certification; must obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support within 30 days of employment.
- Experience with cardiac, vascular, neuro/spine, trauma, orthopedic, and robotic surgeries.
- Ability to work 10.5-hour shifts and handle on-call responsibilities, including nights and weekends.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Previous experience in a Level 1 trauma hospital with a heart program.
- Hands-on experience with robotic-assisted surgeries and advanced surgical equipment.
- Strong understanding of meditech documentation systems.
