Schedule / Job Type

• Full-time, Night shifts, 12-hour shifts, 3 shifts per week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to high-risk psychiatric patients in the emergency room, including medication administration, de-escalation, restraint use, and coordinating inpatient or state hospital placements.
• Conduct psychiatric evaluations for ER patients, determine appropriate disposition, and facilitate safety planning, placement, and transportation as needed.
• Respond to Behavioral Response Team (BRT) calls hospital-wide to manage escalated patients through de-escalation, setting limits, restraints, and supporting bedside staff alongside police and nurse managers.
• Support ED physicians by delivering psychiatric assessments and disposition plans following medical clearance.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kansas or a Compact state
• BLS certification
• At least 1 year of ER experience and 1 year of psychiatric experience (hospital setting preferred)
• Experience with patient assessments, managing violent behaviors, and working with high-risk psychiatric patients

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience with psychiatric evaluations and crisis intervention in an emergency setting
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations independently
