X-ray / Radiologic Technology Specialist

Schedule / Job Type:
Night shifts, 4 nights per week, 10 hours per shift
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic radiographic, portable, C-arm, and fluoroscopic procedures in various settings including emergency and operating rooms.
- Review patients' clinical history and laboratory data, ensuring appropriate orders are in place; collaborate with radiologists as needed.
- Educate patients regarding procedures and provide care with attention to patient comfort and safety.
- Select and operate imaging equipment, positioning patients accurately to obtain optimal images while respecting their ability and comfort.
- Apply ALARA principles and radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self.
- Process and review images for quality and proper identification; document procedures thoroughly in electronic medical records and PACS.
- Assist with medical record management, image sharing, and follow all safety incident reporting protocols.
- Provide instruction and mentorship to radiography students and new technologists.
- Operate mobile radiologic equipment in diverse environments (ER, OR, bedside).
- Prepare contrast media and assist physicians during fluoroscopic and specialized x-ray examinations.
- Coordinate patient and staff schedules to ensure efficient workflow.
- Maintain proficiency with radiology information systems and imaging technologies.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical radiologic experience.
- ARRT Radiography registration.
- IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation (required for Illinois).
- Current CPR or BLS certification (must be obtained within 90 days if not already certified).
- Valid state license for radiologic practice.
Preferred Experience / Skills:
- Experience with digital PACS systems and electronic medical records.
- Ability to operate mobile imaging equipment and assist in fluoroscopy procedures.
- Strong understanding of radiation safety and ALARA principles.
- Excellent patient care and communication skills.
