Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
Location: Columbus, OH
Schedule / Job Type: Full-time, Night shift (3x12-hour shifts)
Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality nursing care to emergency room patients, including those with urgent and non-urgent conditions
• Float between ICU and ED units as needed, assessing and managing patient needs
• Monitor and treat patients with diagnoses such as sickle cell crisis, fever, abdominal pain, uncontrolled pain, anemia, nausea, vomiting, and dehydration
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
• Conduct comprehensive assessments, prioritize patient care, and document clinical findings accurately
• Ensure compliance with certification requirements and hospital protocols

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of ER experience, including recent ICU experience
• Current valid Ohio or compact nursing license at the time of submission
• EPIC electronic health record system experience
• Certifications in BCLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• Ability to respond promptly to urgent patient needs and adapt to unit demands

Preferred Experience / Skills:

• Experience working in oncology or hematology units, with knowledge of related patient conditions
• Ability to maintain strong relationships within a smaller, supportive unit environment
• Familiarity with patient management for conditions such as sickle cell crisis and stroke

Additional Notes:

• Candidates must complete fingerprinting promptly after contract signing due to strict Ohio compliance deadlines
• Travel compliance is essential; candidates outside Ohio within driving distance will need to visit a fingerprinting location promptly, or be provided with a fingerprinting packet if further away
• RTO (Request for Time Off) must be indicated with submission and included in the contract
• References: Two professional references required, including at least one from a leadership or supervisor role
• Candidates currently employed or with recent employment at Ohio State University hospitals are ineligible
