Job Title

Schedule / Job Type
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 4 days per week, contract assignment

Key Responsibilities
• Provide specialized nursing care for cardiac stepdown patients, including post-procedure, heart failure, chest pain, NSTEMI, COPD exacerbation, and overdose management
• Administer and monitor IV drips such as heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, Cardizem, and insulin
• Read and interpret EKGs and dysrhythmia strips, passing required competency assessments prior to start
• Utilize EPIC electronic health records for documentation and order management
• Float to supported units as needed, ensuring seamless patient care and team support
• Maintain compliance with all hospital protocols, including PPE fitting for N95 masks and necessary certifications

Required Qualifications
• Valid RN license in any state; temporary license acceptable with 5-10 day processing time
• At least 1.5 years of experience in a Cardiac Stepdown or similar unit with some Level 1 or 2 experience preferred
• Proficiency in EPIC EHR system and experience with IV drips, EKG interpretation, and cardiac monitoring
• Current BLS, NIH, and ability to read and interpret strips; ACLS preferred
• Successful completion of an online EKG tele competency assessment prior to assignment
• IV start skills; willing to be fitted for N95 masks or PAPR if necessary

Preferred Experience / Skills
• Travel nursing experience and experience floating between units preferred
• Prior experience in a Level 1 or 2 cardiac care hospital setting preferred
• Additional certifications related to cardiac nursing (e.g., ACLS)

Shift Details
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts, four shifts per week

Additional Information
• Duration: 13-week contract, with possibility of cancellation due to census as needed
• Must have recent work history displaying a 1:5 patient ratio experience in SD or PCU (ICU experience does not qualify)
• RTO requests must be included with application; no changes after offer
• Completion of required modules during orientation and annually (up to 24 hours billable)
• Ensure all prerequisite assessments (lab work, EKG) are completed within 72 hours of signing the contract

Travel / Floating Requirements
• First to float within designated campuses; will support multiple facilities within close proximity, including Dayton main campus, Centerville, and Englewood.
• Must be available to work every other weekend and holiday
• Travel compliance actions must be completed within 72 hours of signing
