Key Responsibilities

• Identify and process all tissue specimens received in the anatomic pathology department, ensuring accurate patient identification and proper labeling.
• Assist pathologists with gross examination by providing labeled tissue cassettes, operating tissue processors, and offering necessary support.
• Meticulously prepare, cut, stain, and deliver slides promptly for microscopic examination.
• Support frozen section procedures immediately upon specimen receipt.
• Perform special histochemical stains as required, ensuring timely completion for diagnostic reporting.
• Prepare slides and tissue samples for transfer to other laboratories and maintain organized storage of all specimens and slides.

Required Qualifications

• Certification as a Histotechnologist with ASCP or equivalent certification.
• Experience with tissue processing, staining, and slide preparation.
• Knowledge of histological procedures and laboratory safety protocols.
• Ability to accurately document and handle patient specimens.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience working in an anatomic pathology or histology laboratory.
• Familiarity with tissue frozen section preparation.
• Ability to perform special histochemical stains and procedures.
