Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to obstetric patients in a Level I trauma center.
• Assist with high-risk deliveries, vaginal births, and cesarean sections, including postpartum recovery.
• Monitor fetal heart activity using external and internal fetal monitoring techniques.
• Administer medications such as magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, and antihypertensives, and manage pain control including epidurals.
• Perform neonatal care procedures including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and birth assessments.
• Support postpartum patient care, including wound management, breastfeeding support, and discharge education.

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois nursing license or in process with an ETA to obtain.
• Minimum of 18 months of obstetric nursing experience in a hospital setting.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring.
• Proficiency in Cerner charting system.
• Ability to work night shifts and cover floating responsibilities within scope, including some peds or affiliate hospital assignments.
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Previous experience in antepartum, high-risk obstetrics, or mother/baby units.
• Community hospital experience and familiarity with VA, Radiant Warmers, and neonatal assessments.
• Experience with infusion pumps, IV therapy, and neonatal procedures.
• Knowledge of infection prevention, vaccine administration, and relevant hospital protocols.
