Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the operating room during surgical procedures across various specialties including general, trauma, gynecology, neurosurgery, and plastic surgery.
- Prepare and maintain sterile instruments and surgical supplies, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques.
- Support surgical team with instrument management, patient positioning, and documentation via Cerner electronic charting system.
- Float within scope of practice across different surgical units to meet departmental needs.
- Comply with safety protocols including radiation safety, sharps precautions, and universal procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotations as required, providing emergency coverage and support.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of surgical technologist experience.
- Valid Illinois surgical technologist license (must be in hand at submission).
- Current BLS certification; CST certification preferred.
- Experience in trauma, teaching hospitals, and high-volume surgical settings.
- Ability to work on-call as needed and support flexible scheduling.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience handling ENT, endoscopic, general, gynecological, neurosurgical, orthopedic, plastic, trauma, and urology cases.
- Proficiency with surgical instrumentation such as drills, electrosurgical units, fiber optic sources.
- Familiarity with Cerner charting system and open/laparoscopic procedures.
- Previous hospital experience at a Level I trauma center or teaching hospital.

Additional Notes
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility.
- Candidates should be prepared to work holidays, with at least two major holidays required per year.
- Orientation includes completing required modules virtually on the first day.
- Parking permits provided at no cost during shift.
- Non-clinical hours for training are pre-scheduled and non-billable.
- This position may involve floating within hospital departments to meet operational needs.
