Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized psychiatric nursing care to adults and geriatric patients in a short-term acute care setting.
• Administer medications via PO, IM, IV, rectal, SC, and other routes, including starting and maintaining IVs.
• Monitor blood glucose levels, insert and maintain Foley catheters, and manage medical and psychiatric co-morbidities.
• Float within psychiatric units as needed, including adult and geriatric populations, some with medical co-morbidities.
• Support patients requiring pre-op preparation for ECT and assist with restraint application and milieu presence.
• Maintain documentation in Epic and follow facility protocols for safety and quality of care.

Required Qualifications

• Active Missouri RN license or valid compact license in a participating state (must be in hand at submission).
• BLS and CPI certifications.
• At least 1 year of recent inpatient psychiatric nursing experience.
• Experience with Epic electronic health records.
• Ability to work night shifts (3x12 hours) and every other weekend.
• Valid SSN and date of birth required at submittal.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in geriatric psychiatric care and managing patients with co-morbid medical conditions.
• Knowledge of medical/surgical nursing principles applicable to psychiatric populations.
• Experience with restraint application and blood glucose monitoring.
• Comfortable working with adult and older adult populations with diagnoses such as dementia, depression, Parkinson’s Disease, bipolar disorder, or anxiety.
