Key Responsibilities
- Administer medications to residents in long-term or skilled care settings following standard nursing procedures under supervision.
- Maintain medication cart and storage areas, ensuring safety and compliance.
- Perform medication counts with licensed staff at the beginning and end of shifts.
- Check medication supplies and coordinate reordering with nursing staff.
- Take and record vital signs, including apical pulse rates, following proper procedures.
- Report any significant changes in resident condition or vital signs to charge nurses or supervisors.
- Document all medication administrations accurately on MAR per facility policies.
- Work effectively with residents, families, and medical staff, demonstrating compassion and professionalism.
- Handle frequent interruptions and work independently with integrity and flexibility.
Required Qualifications
- Must have completed CNA-M coursework listed on the State of Maine CNA certification.
- Ability to administer medications via oral, rectal, topical, inhalation, eye, or ear routes under supervision.
- Knowledge of medication storage, documentation, and safety procedures.
- Ability to accurately perform vital signs and medication counts.
- Effective communication skills with staff, residents, and families.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, often emotionally charged environment.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Previous experience in long-term or skilled nursing care.
- Knowledge of medication protocols and resident care procedures.
- Certification or training as a Medical Technician or similar healthcare role.
