Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive care interventions including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments for obstetric patients.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with the care team.
• Monitor, document, and communicate patient conditions to physicians, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living such as hygiene, nutrition, elimination, and mobility.
• Support patients through transfer, discharge, and referral processes, ensuring holistic care—including psychological and social needs.
• Provide patient and family education tailored to individual age, culture, and circumstances.
• Circulate during cesarean sections and assist physicians as needed; ensure proper recovery care for surgical patients.
• Attend deliveries, supporting the obstetric team, and assess neonates post-delivery.
• Comply with certifications in fetal monitoring (every two years) and neonatal resuscitation (NRP) as required.
• Communicate effectively to identify and relay relevant medical information to physicians and patients.

Required Qualifications

• Active Alabama RN license or valid compact license.
• Must hold current ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN certifications (must be attached to submission, through American Heart Association).
• Minimum of 5 years recent experience in Labor, Delivery, and Mother-Baby units.
• Experience with obstetric triage and transition care of newborns.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Previous travel nursing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of fetal monitoring and obstetric emergency procedures.
