Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures including echocardiograms and other sonographic imaging.
- Assist physicians in obtaining high-quality images for accurate diagnosis.
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures and ensure their comfort and safety.
- Accurately operate ultrasound equipment and record images in the appropriate system.
- Maintain proper documentation of procedures conducted and patient data.
- Uphold infection control protocols and ensure equipment safety, including radiation safety standards.
- Participate in ongoing education, workshops, and maintain necessary certifications, including advanced certifications such as RDCS or SDMS.
- Assist with departmental equipment maintenance and room turnover to promote efficient workflow.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Radiologic Sciences, Cardiovascular Technology, or equivalent from an accredited program.
- Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), RDCS, or equivalent credential.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred but required within 90 days of employment.
- Eighteen (18) months of experience in diagnostic radiology or completion of an accredited Cardiovascular or Radiologic Technology program with recommendation letters.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Two (2) or more years of experience performing cardiac echocardiography and sonography procedures within a clinical setting.
- Experience assisting in electrophysiology or interventional procedures is a plus.
- Proficiency with ultrasound and related imaging systems, along with strong knowledge of vascular anatomy.
