• Full-time, night shift (3x12 hours)
Key Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in a Medical Surgical unit during night shifts.
• Monitor patient vital signs, perform assessments, and administer medications with precision.
• Utilize cardiac monitoring tools such as telemetry and rapid response teams effectively.
• Manage gastrointestinal cases including colostomy and feeding tube care.
• Oversee genitourinary and renal cases such as pre/post-hemodialysis management and renal failure.
• Perform IV therapy, including port access, blood product administration, and line management.
• Administer and document medications like Heparin, Insulin, and PCA.
• Provide respiratory care including CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and airway management.
• Ensure infection control through proper isolation precautions and wound care practices.
• Document care accurately using Cerner electronic health records.
Required Qualifications
• Valid Illinois registered nurse license (or in application process with ETA).
• Minimum of 2 years of acute care RN experience in a Medical Surgical setting.
• BLS certification is required.
• Must have experience with telemetry, GI, and renal patient care.
• Proficiency in IV therapy, medication administration, and respiratory support.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Experience / Skills
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response protocols.
• Knowledge of infection control, wound care, and use of Cerner electronic health records.
• Flexibility to float within the hospital or to affiliated facilities as needed.
• Availability to work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays.
