- Full-time, on-site, 3x12-hour day shifts (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), with on-call requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care in a Level I trauma hospital’s operating room setting for various surgical specialties, excluding cardiovascular.
- Support all service lines with exception of cardiovascular, including General Surgery, Trauma, Orthopedics, Urology, Plastic Surgery, and Transplant cases.
- Administer blood products, manage infection control protocols, and ensure radiation safety standards.
- Handle specimen labeling, universal protocol compliance, and urinary catheterization procedures.
- Assist with laparoscopic, open, and microsurgical procedures, including complex trauma cases and organ donation.
- Work collaboratively within the surgical team and float within scope as needed to meet the facility's operational needs.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Illinois RN license (active or in application process).
- Minimum of 18 months of specialized operating room experience.
- BLS certification; CNOR and CST preferred.
- Experience with Level I trauma OR procedures, including general, trauma, orthopedic, neuro, plastic, and urology surgeries.
- Familiarity with Cerner charting system.
- Ability to work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- CNOR certification.
- Experience with laparoscopic and microvascular procedures.
- Knowledge of operating room equipment such as electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Hana tables.
- Experience managing emergent trauma cases such as gunshot wounds, amputations, and multiple injuries.
