Special Education Teacher Learning Specialist
Primary Purpose: A Teacher Learning Specialist supports student achievement by providing targeted academic interventions, collaborating with teachers, and helping implement instructional strategies that meet diverse learning needs. The role blends instruction, coaching, and student support services.
Position Details:
Location: Denver, CO
Pay: Starting $40/hr
Hours: M-F 8a-4p
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required (Education degree preferred)
- CO DOE (COOL) Licensure preferred
- Prior teaching experience preferred, ideally in an elementary or urban setting
Skills & Experience:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to engage young learners
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teaching teams and families
- Experience incorporating arts integration, play-based learning, and instructional technology
- Patience, flexibility, and willingness to take instructional risks
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and reflective teaching practices
- Ability to support diverse learners, including students with disabilities, ELL students, and gifted learners.
Responsibilities:
- Plans and implements a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students and complies with Florida Department of Education Standards and the school’s goals and objectives and individual student IEPs
- Participates in all IEP team meetings.
- Provides ESE services in accordance with students’ IEPs.
- Creates a positive atmosphere in the classroom to help ensure success for individual student learning
- Sets a plan for classroom management
- Models and instructs virtuous character traits and promotes growth in wisdom, virtue, and compassion in self and students
- Develops curriculum and lesson plans in line with school philosophy
- Creates and administers assessments to monitor progress
- Works with parents to ensure success for each student in the classroom
- Communicates progress with parents and works together to ensure tasks are completed
- Attends meetings, conferences, and in-services as required
- Coordinates special events and field trips to enrich curriculum
