Key Responsibilities

• Organize and conduct medically prescribed physical therapy programs to restore function and prevent disability following illness, injury, or loss of a body part.
• Develop therapy plans incorporating physical exercises, massage, heat, water, and other modalities.
• Utilize mechanical and electrical equipment, prosthetic, and orthotic devices.
• Evaluate, document, and report on patient progress.
• Interpret and carry out physician prescriptions in compliance with practice act guidelines.
• Supervise physical therapy assistants, support staff, volunteers, and students, providing instruction and support.
• Assist in performance evaluations of departmental staff.
• Ensure patient safety and confidentiality of data.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy.
• Current license issued by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy & Occupational Therapy Examiners.
• Knowledge of the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Ethics and the Guide to Physical Therapy Practice.
• Excellent communication skills.
• BLS certification (AHA only).

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in an acute care setting preferred, recent graduates accepted.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
