Key Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care to adult patients in critical care and emergency department settings.
• Perform airway management procedures such as endotracheal suctioning, extubation, intubation assistance, nasal and oral airway placement, and sputum collection.
• Administer oxygen therapy using devices like bag and mask, ET tubes, HFNC, T-Piece, and Trach Collar.
• Manage ventilators including BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation.
• Chart patient care in Cerner electronic health record system.
• Assist in patient education and collaborate with healthcare team to meet department needs.

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois licensure as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in adult critical care and emergency settings.
• BLS certification and RRT credential.
• Proficiency in airway management devices, suctioning, nebulizer use, and ventilator management.
• Experience with Cerner electronic charting system.
• Ability to work every other weekend and on major holidays, with flexibility for float within scope of practice.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a Level I trauma center or teaching hospital.
• Experience with trauma, acute care, and community hospital environments.
• Certification in advanced airway management or related specialties.
