- Full-time, travel assignment with 3 shifts per week (12-hour night shifts)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department with a 65-bed capacity
- Monitor and treat a diverse patient population spanning from newborns to the elderly, including critically ill patients, trauma cases, and those experiencing cardiac events or strokes
- Titrate and manage various IV drips such as vasopressors, cardiac medications, antihypertensives, and more, following protocol
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and monitor patient vitals using Phillips monitors, responding promptly to life-threatening rhythms
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, mid-level providers, respiratory therapists, ED techs, and charge nurses, to ensure seamless patient care
- Document patient care and maintain compliance with hospital policies and protocols
Required Qualifications
- Valid Active Illinois nursing license or proof of application process
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Pediatric Emergency Nurse Coordinator (ENPC) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) or Triage Nurse Specialist (TNS) certification
- Minimum 2 years of recent emergency nursing experience, with at least 1 travel assignment preferred
- Proficiency in titrating IV drips and managing critical patient care
Preferred Experience / Skills
- SANE RN certification preferred
- Experience working in a teaching hospital or with residents
- Ability to interpret telemetry monitors independently
Additional Details
- Shifts: 12-hour night shifts, scheduled in a flexible manner with requests for time off considered
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun)
- Holiday Requirement: Every other or as needed, negotiable
- No call or standby requirements for travelers
- Floats: Rare, generally help-all on other units if floated, but primarily focused on ED care
- Scrub Color: No specific color – solid colored shirts preferred under scrubs
