Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures including specimen processing, testing, and result reporting.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments such as Sysmex and Abbott Alinity; perform minor repairs as needed.
- Ensure compliance with quality control protocols and document all laboratory activities accurately.
- Utilize Laboratory Information Systems to process and verify results, including notifying and documenting critical values.
- Handle patient specimens with attention to minimal volume requirements and specimen integrity.
- Assist in developing, evaluating, and updating testing procedures and protocols to improve laboratory processes.
- Cross-train across laboratory sections to ensure versatile coverage and operational flexibility.
- Demonstrate clinical competence and adapt patient assessment and testing responsibilities to meet diverse patient needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
- Certification as MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HHS.
- Ability to perform both routine and complex laboratory testing.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a generalist (preferred).
- Experience with laboratory instruments such as Sysmex and Abbott Alinity is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and adherence to compliance standards.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with EPIC or similar electronic health records systems.
- Prior experience working in a clinical laboratory environment, including rotations in blood banking, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, immunology, or urinalysis.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to perform minor instrument repairs.
