Key Responsibilities

• Provide preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative nursing care for surgical patients in the operating room
• Work across all service lines except cardiovascular, with a focus on general, trauma, and specific specialty cases
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure patient safety, proper procedures, and adherence to protocols
• Assist with laparoscopic assisted cases, general surgeries, trauma procedures, and specialized surgeries such as organ donation and microvascular procedures
• Maintain compliance with hospital standards, infection control, radiation safety, and proper specimen handling
• Participate in on-call rotations, including being available 1 week per month for emergency needs

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 18 months of OR nursing experience with general, trauma, and Level I trauma center background
• Active Illinois nursing license in hand or in application process
• BLS certification required; CNOR certification preferred
• Experience with bariatric laparoscopic cases, diverse surgical procedures, and trauma surgeries
• Proficiency with electronic health records, specifically Cerner
• Ability to work within scope, float as needed, and manage emergency situations effectively

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Level I trauma experience
• Cerner or similar EMR system experience
• Experience with neuro, orthopedic, plastic, transplant, and urology surgeries
• Knowledge of complex surgical procedures including craniotomies, lumbar fusions, organ donation, and microvascular techniques
