Key Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive physical therapy services to patients referred by healthcare providers, supporting patient recovery and functional improvements.
• Perform evaluative and therapeutic procedures following physician orders, observing all safety precautions.
• Develop individualized treatment plans with short- and long-term goals, incorporating patient and caregiver input.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team, including physicians and therapists, to plan and adjust care and discharge strategies.
• Document all patient interactions accurately in the electronic medical record while ensuring documentation is clear, accessible, and compliant with departmental standards.
• Educate patients and caregivers on prescribed therapies and use of assistive devices, documenting all teaching outcomes.
• Supervise and collaborate with physical therapist assistants to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Maintain and update clinical skills by attending relevant training, workshops, and conferences.
• Support the development of new programs and services within the physical therapy department.
• Mentor and supervise staff and students, ensuring compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
• Ensure departmental operations, cleanliness, and infection control procedures are maintained responsibly.
• Adhere to reimbursement regulations including Medicare, Medicaid, and private pay guidelines.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy; Master’s or Doctorate preferred.
• Valid licensure as a Physical Therapist in the State of Maine.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively under high-stress conditions.
• Proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and comprehension of instructions.
Preferred Experience / Skills
• Experience working with surgical orthopedic patients, particularly joint replacements, following established care standards.
• Prior experience mentoring students and supervising staff.
• Active membership in professional organizations and ongoing professional development.
