Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized neonatal respiratory therapy and ventilation management for NICU patients during transport, including use of ventilators such as Hamilton vent/Cross Vent and TXP.
  • Perform airway stabilization procedures, including mask ventilation, securing advanced airways, and managing transport equipment to ensure patient safety.
  • Assist with line placements (PIV or UVC), point-of-care testing (ABG/CBG, glucose), and patient stabilization during transport.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of interventions, transport events, and patient assessments in accordance with facility protocols.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless communication and optimal patient outcomes during neonatal transports.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, crisis management procedures, and infection control standards, with proficiency in NRP, PALS, and other required certifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RRT or CRT license.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • PALS certification preferred; STABLE certification a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years NICU transport experience.
  • Proficiency in airway management, ventilator operation (including HFOV, CPAP/NIV, HFNC), and transport physiology.
  • Ability to troubleshoot transport equipment, manage oxygen therapy, and interpret clinical data.
  • Excellent communication skills for team coordination and documentation.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience with ground and air neonatal transport safety protocols.
  • Knowledge of isolette systems, equipment troubleshooting, and EMS integration.
  • Familiarity with pediatric and neonatal critical care conditions such as RDS, MAS, PPHN, BPD, and sepsis.
  • Experience managing equipment during patient movement, including power sources and gas monitoring.
