Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and assist with radiologic examinations for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
- Prepare patient rooms and radiology equipment for procedures, ensuring adherence to department protocols.
- Properly identify patients using two forms of ID and maintain patient confidentiality according to HIPAA.
- Position and explain procedures to patients to alleviate fears and ensure accurate imaging.
- Operate radiologic equipment efficiently to produce diagnostic-quality images, including portable and fluoroscopy procedures.
- Assist radiologists and surgeons during special examinations and surgical procedures.
- Monitor and assess patient condition throughout procedures, providing post-procedure care and information.
- Follow radiation safety protocols and utilize protective equipment to ensure safety for patients and staff.
- Maintain proficiency in operating all radiologic and fluoroscopic equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, and perform routine maintenance.
- Participate in ongoing education, credentialing, and quality improvement activities.
- Document and process images via PACS and RIS systems; ensure accurate record keeping and billing.
- Assist with supervision and training of student technologists.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations, including initiating CPR and activating hospital codes if necessary.
- Maintain a clean and stocked radiology suite, including supplies and film processing equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Ability to work with adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
- Knowledge of radiology procedures, safety protocols, and patient care practices.
- Basic computer skills for operating PACS, RIS, and other hospital systems.
- Current CPR certification.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- At least 2 years of experience working in a radiology department.
- Prior experience with fluoroscopy, contrast media administration, and surgical radiography.
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
