Key Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapy and manage related body fluids and infusions following safety protocols
- Monitor and recognize abnormal lab values, communicate findings to the healthcare team
- Provide patient care for individuals with oncological conditions, including IV push, port access, and central line management
- Ensure proper disposal of cytotoxic spills and maintain infection control standards
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive oncology care
- Document patient care accurately in electronic health records
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of recent clinical nursing experience, preferably in oncology
- Active Illinois nursing license in hand or in application process
- Experience with chemotherapy administration and IV therapy, including port access and management
- Ability to work 12-hour day shifts, 3 days per week, with flexibility to work every other weekend
- Must have current AHA or Red Cross certifications; RQI cards not accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a Level I trauma or acute care hospital setting
- Familiarity with Cerner charting system
- Certifications specific to oncology nursing (e.g., Chemo cert preferred)
- Ability to float within scope to meet hospital needs, including affiliate facilities
