Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care throughout pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases.
• Assess patient condition, develop and implement care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes.
• Collaborate with surgical teams and healthcare professionals to ensure safe, efficient, and quality patient care.
• Utilize nursing standards and practices, applying age-specific and culturally sensitive considerations.
• Administer treatments, medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and educate patients and families.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and pass required competencies for the role.

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing from an NLN-approved institution; BSN preferred.
• Valid license in good standing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience, preferably in perioperative or surgical settings.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications; PALS preferred.
• Ability to pass and maintain position-specific competencies.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Certification in Surgery or Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of AORN standards and medical terminology.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and within a team.
• Proficiency in documenting care and following procedures in a healthcare setting.
