Key Responsibilities

• Manage patient progression of care, promote evidence-based protocols, and ensure the appropriateness of interventions to facilitate timely patient discharge.
• Review patient records and evaluate patient progress throughout hospitalization.
• Perform continuing review of hospitalizations to assess necessity, length of stay, and quality of care.
• Collaborate with physicians, clinical care teams, and leadership to ensure cost-effective, appropriate healthcare services.
• Provide education and guidance to patients and families regarding healthcare benefits.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team reviews and ensure documentation supports utilization review functions.

Required Qualifications

• Active nursing license in Alaska at the time of submission.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Minimum of 8 years’ clinical care or nursing experience, including 3 years in chart review, risk management, or related quality services.
• Must have a current flu vaccination.
• Experience in case management or risk management preferred.
• Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD-9 and CPT coding.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Case management certification by a recognized organization (e.g., NCQA, CCMC).
• Knowledge of CMS regulations and experience with medical necessity reviews.
• Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
