Schedule / Job Type
- Full-time, 13-week travel assignment, night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on the neuro stepdown unit, ensuring safe and effective treatment.
- Administer medications and treatments, including high-flow oxygen, chest tubes, suction, and cardiac drips.
- Perform procedures such as lumbar punctures and chest tube placements as needed.
- Monitor patient status using Meditech documentation, and communicate with healthcare teams during bedside shift reports and daily huddles.
- Maintain patient safety and comfort, building personal connections to improve patient experience.
- Collaborate with unit staff, including techs and secretaries, to ensure smooth unit operations.
Required Qualifications
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in Tennessee or appropriate state.
- BLS certification required for all shifts; ACLS certification required for neuro stepdown.
- Strong nursing skills with experience in acute care settings.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and effectively.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Previous neuro stepdown or stepdown unit experience.
- Critical thinking skills for managing complex patient needs.
- Experience with ventilators such as Vapotherm and Bipap.
- Knowledge of procedures like lumbar puncture and chest tube placement.
