Surgical Technologist – Operating Room (Days)

Contract | Full-Time | 3x12-Hour Day Shifts | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist during surgical procedures by ensuring and maintaining the integrity of a sterile surgical field and providing instrumentation as needed to the surgical team.

  • Apply expertise in sterile and aseptic technique, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and the use of surgical tools and technologies in performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures; functions with working knowledge of AORN standards.

  • Monitor the sterile field for events that may contaminate, interfere, or alter the field and initiate or notify of the need for corrective action under supervision.

  • Maintain and inspect all items for proper packaging, processing, moisture, seal integrity, sterile indicators, and expiration dates to ensure a safe operative environment.

  • Participate in the Time Out Process, including Briefings and Debriefings, and assist the team with patient transports, room turnovers, and room preparation.

  • Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization while maintaining currency in new technologies, procedures, instrumentation, and equipment.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or Licensed Surgical Technologist designation.

  • Active Surgical Technologist license in the state of Colorado.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.

  • Working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking.

  • Ability to obtain necessary computer skills within 90 days to complete online learning requirements, access online forms and policies, and complete online benefits enrollment.

  • Ability to care for patients across all age groups, from neonatal/infant through geriatric populations.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Demonstrated competency or progression toward competency in Tier 1 surgical cases.

  • Experience working within perioperative or operating room environments with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

  • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and professional conduct expectations in a healthcare setting.
