Key Responsibilities
- Provide physical therapy treatment to patients under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist, seeing 8–9 patients per day with 1-hour evaluations and 45-minute follow-up appointments
- Observe, evaluate, and document the effects of each treatment accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring all chart entries are timed and dated
- Demonstrate safe and effective use of physical therapy modalities including spinal traction, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, diathermy, and infrared light
- Perform physical therapy procedures including therapeutic exercise, soft tissue mobilization, gait training, neuromuscular re-education, orthotic/prosthetic training, and taping
- Maintain a safe treatment environment, uphold department cleanliness standards, and adhere to infection control practices
- Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary staff to support effective plan-of-care development and communication
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an APTA-approved Physical Therapist Assistant Program
- Current, active PTA license issued by the State of California with no lapses
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification with no lapses
- Demonstrated proficiency in physical therapy procedures, modalities, and assessment of treatment effects
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
- Ability to work within the guidelines of the California State Practice Act
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in acute care, skilled nursing, and/or outpatient physical therapy settings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for data compilation and documentation
- Experience with patient scheduling and front office support functions
