Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily patient flow through the department and coordinate daily exam assignments, performing nuclear medicine procedures with minimal supervision.
- Collect patient histories, verify patient identification information, and communicate with radiologists and other clinical staff as needed.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals under the direction of a radiologist and assist with Nuclear and PET examinations.
- Select and operate Nuclear and PET equipment using appropriate technical factors; assist with equipment calibration and radionuclide assay operations.
- Maintain accurate records of radionuclide receipts, use, storage, and disposal in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Monitor patients continuously throughout exams, follow department protocols, and produce quality diagnostic images for each procedure.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of one (1) year of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience.
- Technical Diploma from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT).
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (KBMIRT) Nuclear Medicine License.
- Current certification in one of the following: NMTCB Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMT) or ARRT Nuclear Medicine Technology (N).
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Five (5) or more years of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience.
- Experience rotating through nuclear cardiology, main nuclear, and PET imaging areas.
- Familiarity with ACR accreditation processes including clinical image selection and data collection.
