Key Responsibilities
- Perform and document comprehensive patient assessments, incorporating culture, age, developmental level, and risk factors into individualized care planning
- Implement patient care therapies and procedures with clinical autonomy within scope of practice, and communicate changes in patient condition to the care team in a timely manner
- Coordinate admission, transfer, and discharge activities, including execution of discharge orders and collaboration with case management
- Provide patient and family-centered education related to procedures, treatments, and discharge planning
- Delegate tasks appropriately and monitor accuracy and completeness of care delivered by other team members
- Actively participate in unit-based quality improvement activities including patient satisfaction, fall prevention, pressure ulcer prevention, and CAUTI reduction
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kentucky
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN or ASN) or higher
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Minimum two years of nursing experience
- Ability to assess age-specific patient safety needs and implement appropriate safety measures
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Previous experience in cardiovascular or cardiac surgery nursing, including care of pre/post-cardiac intervention patients
