Key Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon before, during, and after cardiovascular surgical procedures under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, in accordance with accepted clinical standards of care.
• Scrub assist in open heart cases including CABG, MVR, AVR, pacemaker implantation, laser lead extractions, and endovascular procedures, including standby for TVAR and mitral clip procedures.
• Operate within a 2-bed open heart surgical suite environment, maintaining proper handling and organization of open heart instrumentation and supplies.
• Participate in on-call rotation, approximately every other day and every other weekend, including night shift on-call coverage.
• Provide lunch relief coverage across additional surgical service lines including Vascular, Robotics, General, Ortho, Neuro/Spine, Urology, Podiatry, Thoracic, and Plastic Surgery as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Minimum of 2 years of current, recent experience in an acute CVOR setting.
• Demonstrated ability to scrub assist in open heart surgical cases.
• Ability to participate in on-call requirements as outlined by the unit.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with minimally invasive cardiac surgical procedures strongly preferred.
• Previous travel assignment experience and ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced surgical environment.
• Ability to function independently and efficiently with varying staff levels based on case volume.
