Registered Nurse IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Key Responsibilities

• Provide critical care nursing for patients in the CVPCU, including post-surgical cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients.
• Monitor and manage patients with open heart surgery, thoracic procedures, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and other cardiovascular interventions.
• Administer medications such as cardiac GTTs, epidural infusions, and IV therapies, and manage chest tubes, epidural catheters, and tube feedings.
• Responsible for patient assessment, vital sign monitoring, and collaboration with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Utilize electronic health records (Cerner) to document patient care and maintain accurate records.
• Adhere to hospital policies, including dress code (navy or white scrubs), and follow unit-specific guidelines.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license in North Carolina or engaging in compact state licensing.
• At least 2 years of recent RN experience in a stepdown, telemetry, or IMC/PCU setting.
• Prior experience in CV surgery and vascular surgery populations (e.g., open heart, TAVR, AAA repair, lobectomy) within the last year.
• CPR and ACLS certifications required.
• Ability to work night shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) and accommodate weekend rotations and holiday coverage.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience managing patients with complex cardiac conditions, including MI, heart failure, and sepsis.
• Familiarity with cardiac medications and infusion management (phenylephrine, dopamine, milrinone, etc.).
• Previous experience working in a busy hospital environment with a team-oriented approach.
