Registered Nurse – General Surgery Clinic

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Days | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (one shortened day per week to maintain a 40-hour schedule)

Key Responsibilities

• Room patients and triage new patients, including gathering relevant outside medical records as needed
• Triage pre- and post-operative patients via telephone, applying critical thinking to assess and prioritize patient needs
• Provide wound care support including suture removal and dressing changes per provider orders
• Assist providers with in-office procedures across exam and procedure rooms
• Complete clinical paperwork including FMLA, disability, and related patient documentation
• Support front desk staff with clinically related questions and issues

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Active Pennsylvania Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider level)
• Knowledge of practical nursing principles, examination and treatment procedures, and patient education
• Familiarity with medical terminology and basic ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines
• Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum of one year of nursing experience, particularly in a surgical or ambulatory care setting
• Experience with pre- and post-operative patient care and telephone triage
• Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills in a fast-paced outpatient environment
