Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a high-acuity cardiac progressive/intermediate care unit with a 1:4–1:5 patient ratio
- Manage post-procedural care for patients following cardiac catheterizations, TAVRs, ablations, pacemaker implantations, and open-heart surgeries including CABGs, MVRs, and AVRs
- Perform and assist with post-thoracic surgery care including VATs/RATs, lobectomies, resections, and chest tube management
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment including telemetry, transport monitors, BiPAP, CPAP, heated high-flow oxygen, chest tubes, pacer wires, and IV/feeding pumps
- Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips including heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, Lasix, dobutamine, milrinone, and ketamine
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of charge RNs and PCTs in a fast-paced cardiac center of excellence
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience with at least 1 year of current acute care PCU/stepdown hospital experience
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
- Proficiency with Meditech EMR
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with chest tube management, chest tube removal, and pacer wire removal
- Proficiency with 12-lead EKG acquisition and interpretation
- Experience managing oxygen therapies up to BiPAP and heated high-flow
- Familiarity with vascular surgery post-operative care and neurovascular checks
