Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts | 3 Weekend Shifts per 4-Week Period | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and communicate effectively within an inter-professional team
• Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, chest tubes, feeding tubes and pumps, and heating/cooling pads
• Utilize electronic health records (Epic), Pyxis medication dispensing systems, Accucheck blood glucose monitoring, Hospira IV pumps, and telemetry monitoring equipment
• Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries
• Float to other medical units as needed; maintain patient ratios of 1:5–6

Required Qualifications

• Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license (effective 7/1/2020) required
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Minimum of 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care experience
• Minimum of 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience at a large hospital (450+ beds)
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience managing complex, multi-diagnosis patient populations in a high-acuity medical-surgical environment
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and advanced IV therapy management
• Prior experience floating across medical units in a large hospital setting
