Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30) | Onsite | Every other weekend required; weekend schedule subject to change based on need
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Cardiac Stepdown unit for patients with diagnoses including CAD s/p CABG, cardiac valve repair, lung cancer s/p VATS, and esophageal cancer
- Monitor and manage post-surgical cardiovascular patients, including administration of cardiac drips and insulin drips
- Perform and interpret EKG readings; candidates must pass a pre-start EKG competency exam
- Accurately administer and reconcile medications using the Omnicell medication system
- Document all patient care activities and assessments within the EPIC electronic medical records system
- Float to other units or campuses as needed based on census, performing only tasks within demonstrated and documented competencies
Required Qualifications
- Active South Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Minimum 1 year of recent EPIC EMR experience
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a Cardiac Stepdown or equivalent unit; first-time travelers must have a minimum of 3 years of specialty experience
- Experience with cardiac drips and insulin drips required
- Must successfully pass a pre-start EKG competency exam
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 2 or more years of overall nursing experience in the field
- Prior experience caring for post-surgical cardiovascular patients
- Familiarity with Omnicell medication management systems
