Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to pediatric patients in the PICU, floating to various pediatric units including NICU, Peds Med/Surg, Peds PACU, Peds ED, and postpartum/mother-baby.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care within established protocols and policies.
• Adhere to clinical policies, including UVA float policy and state licensing requirements.
• Document patient care accurately using Epic electronic health records and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
• Participate in cross-unit patient care, including pediatric PICU, NICU, and related units, with flexibility to float as needed within scope.
• Complete required certifications and ongoing training modules during orientation.

Required Qualifications

• Valid registered nurse (RN) license in Virginia or pending license with in-hand license by the start date.
• Minimum of 2 years PICU experience.
• PICU and NICU experience required, with comfort in float pool assignments across pediatric units.
• Current certifications including BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS.
• Dr. Brown’s Infant Driven Feeding Certification preferred or pending, with cost reimbursement available ($185).
• Epic electronic health records experience.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Pediatric PACU experience highly preferred.
• Previous float pool experience in NICU and PICU settings.
• Strong pediatric clinical skills and adaptability to fast-paced environments.

Additional Details

• Shift: Day, 12-hour shifts, Monday through Friday.
• Travel Compliance: Tier 2 travel compliance required; RTO requests limited to 40 hours per 13-week contract, with no RTO restrictions during orientation's first two weeks.
• Licensing: Virginia license required or pending; must be in-hand at least one week prior to start.
• Mileage: Travel restrictions apply for specific units; local candidates preferred for certain units.
• Policies: Must follow UVAs float policy and background checks; references required.
• Certifications: Submit copies of certifications with application.
